Crystal Cave Container - HUBweek

For HUBweek 2018 we brought our Neon Dream installation idea back, with a new iteration “Crystal Cave”. Again we collaborated with Helen Popinchalk and Morgan Grenier of Trifecta Editions to bring this concept to life. The exterior of the container is a custom designed bat camo pattern using flourescent orange and yellow vinyl on a deep black background. The camoflage acts as foreshadowing for what the viewer will find inside. This container is truly experimental and engages all the senses except for taste. Inside you’re transported deep into the ground inside a dark, rumbling cave equipped with textured walls and floors. Everything you can see is handmade by the artists. Paper flourescent crystals populate the ceiling, while foam fluorescent stalactites and stalagmites are scattered amongst and the floor and ceiling. Handmade mushrooms and plat life glow from the cave walls and old mining equipment is scattered about including a burning lantern. Looking inside the multiple tunnels in the cave walls, you’ll find everything from live glowing fish to a live stream video of the plaza outside. Crystal Cave is a truly unique sensory experience for all who were able to pass through its doors.
