Boston Fire Door Table

This is truly a one-of-a-kind table! Made from an industrial salvaged fire door from a Boston metro building, the door dates back to the early 1900’s and has unbelievable character. All original paint, markings, dents and metal tags and plates from the door have been kept on the tables surface. Using several coats of ultra clear high-gloss urethane epoxy, the entire tabletop has a 1/4”-thick extremely durable and smooth finish, while preserving its details underneath. The bottom of the table was sealed with spar urethane for extra protection. Half of the edge of the tin door covering was removed and replaced with a beautiful full grain cow leather and backed with 1/2”-thick felt padding for comfort. Each brass tack was nailed by hand and the leather worked to form around the edges, top and bottom. The legs were custom designed and fabricated from 3/8” thick hot rolled steel and given a 45-degree bevel edge to mimic the taper. The legs were brushed on the outside before being coated with an ultra clear high-gloss urethane coating. The insides of the legs were painted using a highly durable custom mixed teal paint to match the original paint on the table top. this table is heavy-duty and weighs over 300lbs! Not only is it a beautiful mix of industrial and modern design, it offers a plethora of unique details to study and a chance to own a piece of history. Buy it here.
